At the very least, someone needs to instruct certain individuals at Kindred on the proper etiquette for folding and storage of the US flag. I learned as a Patrol Boy in the 50’s at South Fort Worth Elementary.

Coming from someone with a website who helps to inflate the
masses, it amazes me that you take what occured (which if
you will see the second response-) that was truly between two
employees and was resolved, but that because of one other
employee that started this whole chain of misinformation, that
you and your site would be fair and check the facts..I have
been just as frustrated as the rest of you that the right to
our patriotism in the media is being demonized. I refer to
media outlets like CNN, etc that have taken a stance against
those of us that want our country back, our rights held firm and
our right to peacefully protest against the current government
and the stripping of what America is….I lost a family member
in the 9/11 attack. Do not assume that my “caliber” is less than
yours. You do not know me, nor do you know what and where
my feelings are on America. The worst part of much of America
is that people seem to be “patriotic” when a holiday comes
along or as in 9/11 occured. I do not take down my flags,
they fly proudly and always will. I railed only against those that are
are/were uniformed. That is part of the issue when a situation
like this occurs. People need to check facts before forming
opinions. This country needs people to wake up to what
is out in the media, online and in print..be informed before
someone instigates attacks on persons that 1) had nothing to
do with the situation, 2) that are just as angry as you are
about the employee that took the flag down 3) that because
of the situation as it was, work was interrupted in having to
respond to idiots that were calling all day and emails being
sent because people “spread” the word that they can blast
our place of employment with calls and emails. That is
harrasment. That is why I responded – one of the emails I
recieved came from one of your bloggers…so in the future
remember that what you say, type or email – does affect
others rights too. As for your comment about the caliber of
staff, this was about 2 employees, one who had the right to
fly her flag, and one that denied her that right, Kindred did not
deny her at any time. The caliber of employees is very strong
and dedicated to the care of the types of patients we serve.
This was about one person’s bad judgement. So remember,
before jumping to conclusions, check the sources – so many
media outlets spin their versions of things without checking
sources and as a result, this example is what happens. As for
me – I am an American patriot. Don’t tread on me.

I think people are missing the point. The flag is not just a piece of cloth that hangs on a pole. It represents what Americans stand for. It is a symbol of what when as a country have been threw all of the blood that has been shed to protect us and keep us free. It gives us hope. Any one that disagrees does not deserve to live in this county.

I find it very funny the immigrants love to come here and reap all of the benefits of being an US citizen. But turn around and have the audacity to tell us we cannot stand tall and be a proud American.

I think it is a very very sad day when American Citizens are told to stop being patriotic. Why are our soldiers over fighting for our freedom when we are not even free in our own country. The USA used to be such a proud strong nation. Now we let these immigrants come to our country and tell us we cannot show our patriotism. If they don’t like seeing that beautiful flag flying high GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!! We did not ask you to come to our country. They have taken the bible & pray out of the schools. I completely agree with the patriotic comments made in response to this traitorous act by Kindred Hospital – Mansfield. In addition to being furious myself, a couple of thoughts came to mind. 1) There is an underlying message within the damage control comments made by the hospital. That patriotism for “their” country is okay for those with ties to the military. Shouldn’t they have said “our” country? Or don’t they at Kindred Hospital – Mansfield consider themselves fellow-countrymen? What happened between September 12, 2001 and May 22, 2009? I still fly country’s flag (3′ by 5′) every day in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code. The point that I’m finding difficult to make is that unlike countrymen in a communist or socialist country where nationalism is mandated and taught by the government, in a republic such as ours patriotism is learned from one another. It’s up to us to educate our countrymen by example. Keep fighting the good fight of freedom. Aloha

I think the highest administrator that was involved with the decision should have to post a letter explaining how poor their judgment was in this issue. Stupidity IS an excuse. Size of flag is NOT an excuse. It’s not like they need to fire the person, just make an example out of what happens when you don’t think straight, and make the person man up and accept their just deserts. (I’d still never go to a hospital that clearly has a messed up moral compass. If they mess up a simple thing like that, can you imagine what they could screw up in a life and death decision? Yikes.

I am an employee of Kindred Healthcare and because one person commented on the internet/texting, etc. this has been blown out of context because all that you ongoing bloggers, texters, twitterers, etc do is take and inflate what was, has been and is proven to be false.

Now each of the Kindred’s are being blasted with phone calls, emails, etc. from radicals and nut cases…I personally have been inundated at my work as part of the administrative staff with persons calling and accusing me and all of Kindred of being unpatriotic…

Well unless you are part of the Kindred employee family – you have NO CLUE. I am a patriot, I am married to a VietNam Vet, I fly my flags probably more than all of you bloggers combined. I have currently in my office, a flag, a tea party poster and an Eagle statue holding a flag…

Shame on all of you crazy, jump on the bandwagon idiots. How dare you bastardize and inflate a false story to the extreme that YOU and others like you have initiated unnecessary harrasment, and personal assaults by crazies like you on we the employees of Kindred. We were told of the incident yesterday because the employee fessed up about texting it to some blog…then it exploded…and you all continued to inflate it.
