The number is 9-1-1 not 4-1-1.

111sideweb Police Officers are frequently stopped and asked for information.  It happens.  One of the hazards of the job.  And the questions are as varied as the people that ask them.

One of the questions that I would frequently be asked is “Where is a good neighborhood to live?”  It used to happen often on the street, but as the main point of contact from our website, I get those types of questions on a pretty frequent basis.  Maybe even daily.

People want crime stats, incident reports and other information that they can use to help determine where they want to live.

The one thing you won’t get in any official capacity is a definitive answer.  You won’t receive a “Don’t live in neighborhood XYZ, we’re in there all the time for drugs, prostitution and murders.”

So I was sitting in my office this evening and thinking about that question.  And it dawned on me.  The answer is there without the need to ask the question.

If you see a police officer sitting on the side of the road, or in a parking lot and he’s plugging info into his GPS or going “old skool” and looking at a map, go ask them what they are looking for.  When they tell you the street…

THAT IS WHERE YOU WANT TO LIVE!!!

If they have to look it up on a map, or plug it into a GPS to find it, they surely don’t go there very often and that is usually a pretty good sign!

Keep your eyes peeled!  You may find the perfect place to live.
