Is Senator Lucas trying to influence City Council? It’s just a question.

UPDATE:  Lawsuit muddles new vote on Sen. Lucas’ hotel project

Attorneys are reviewing whether the lawsuit creates a conflict of interest for City Council members faced next month with voting on whether to give those companies access to federal and state bonds for the project. -=SOURCE=-

Looks like a curve ball for Senator Lucas.

But I couldn’t believe this when I read it.

Senator Louise Lucas’ two corporations, Victory Conference Center LLC and Victory Conference Center Hotel LLC, have filed a lawsuit against the City of Portsmouth for failing to give her access to 38 million dollars in bonds for a business venture.

She is claiming, oh wait, I’m sorry, the corporations are claiming that City Council denied her, oh wait, I’m sorry again, the corporations access to the bonds because she is, darn, I did it again, the corporations are primarily African-American owned.

Did I mention that Victory Conference Center Hotel, LLC is owned entirely by Senator Lucas and only Victory Conference Center, LLC is owned by the investors and Senator Lucas?

This suit filed before City Council has an opportunity to vote on the proposal again.    Is she trying to influence the vote of council with this lawsuit?

It’s the only sense I can make of it: the game is to try to intimidate the Portsmouth City Council before the next vote.

  3. Bill Williams says:

If Attorney General Bob McDonnell doesn’t start an investigation into this I swear I will not vote for him.

This has got to be criminal the way she is trying to manipulate the City of Portsmouth.

    AG Bob? What say you?

  4. Senator Lucas is more arrogant and narcissistic than Gov. Blagojevich. I guess she is trying to emulate Chicago politics here in Portsmouth.

Michael Tefft’s last blog post..AP report on global warming is irrational hysteria

  5. John Freeman says:

Why is this criminal still in office?

Why is this criminal still walking around?

Is she suing the city that gave her her start in politics? Maybe that same city will be the end of her political career. Hopefully.

I hate crap like this. Arrogant *****
