Dolphins’ Sweet Victory over the Jets – Revenge for Pennington

General Playoff Chatter

It’s NFL Playoff time. Yesterday was a pretty exciting day in the NFL. Cowbows lost in a complete domination by the Eagles. That is always a good thing, and the cherry on top was the loss of the Redskins to the 49ers though I didn’t see any part of that game. Vikings, who I have no particular like or dislike for, pulled an awesome last second win over the Giants. That was just a fun game to watch.

The game I was most interested in were the Dolphins vs. Jets. The Dolphins have been “my team” since 1969. Through the incredible years, including The Perfect Season in 1972. The Dolphins have always had an extreme rivalry with the Patriots. Some of my most memorable games in the Orange Bowl in Miami was watching them beat the Patriots.

So yesterday’s game against the Jets was important. The Jets had no dog in the fight. They had no chance to make the playoffs. BUT… if they beat the Dolphins, Dolphins were out and New England was in. It was an important game. I watched it whistle to whistle. The crowning moment of course was the sweet revenge Chad Pennington must have felt as he walked off the field after beating the Jets and the over rated “has been” Brett Favre.

So now the Dolphins will face the Ravens for the Wild-Card for the chance to play the Steelers in the Divisional playoff for the AFC. (January 4th, 1PM on CBS).

What a turn around this year for my old team. They almost had another perfect season last year but screwed that up when they won one game. This year they are 11 and 5. I am sure due in no small part due to Chad Pennington leading the charge, and Bill Parcells in the Operations Office.

So my picks for January 3/4:

AFC

Colts over Chargers
Dolphins over Ravens

NFC

Cardinals over Falcons
Vikings over Eagles*

Vikings over Eagles was a hard choice so I went with what I want to happen. I think I would like to see the Vikings make it all the way just for fun. Plus their colors are my High School colors.

In any scenario, to you anticipate the Patriots being returned to the playoffs on a technicality?
