The US Air Force is at it again…
November 18th, 2008 by Scott

THIS IN NO WAY IS MEANT TO BELITTLE ANY OF OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN SERVING OUR COUNTRY.

usafCensoredBut some of the “management” team behind them are just silly. Apparently the Air Farce Force has restricted the use of any removeable media from their network computers.

Remember back in March (on a previous version of my blog that is long gone) I reported that the Air Force was restricting all websites that could be called blogs. If they had “blog” in the title or the URL it was pretty much cut off from all things Air Force.

Read part of the story here.

To me the reasons behind this are obvious. Security for material leaving the facility and security of the systems from people bringing stuff (virus) INTO the facilty. Or, in the worst case, potentially a program that would comprimise the network to the outside.

But this is over kill. There are better, more efficient ways of protecting the data, network and information that cutting the hamstrings of the folks doing the work. I personally couldn’t function without my flash drive.

Read the opinion of someone who this directly affects at PaulMcCord.net.

This is stupid. As a former active-duty Public Affairs officer, it is stupid to nopt allow camera flash cards… Do they want Public Affairs to will the images onto the network?!?!
