Senator Obama the 44th President – Some of my thoughts
November 5th, 2008 by Scott

UPDATE: I think Leslie Carbone says a lot of what was on my mind when I was writing this article, but was unable to get into words. Please go read her article.

Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States. Congratulations Senator. God be with us. We can do nothing but pray now.

Honestly, I am at a loss for words. Congratulations to all of yesterday’s candidates and of course the winners. This was a hard fought campaign for most and one of the most expensive ever.

However, I am concerned for this country.

With Senator Obama at the helm and a liberal majority of law makers, I personally feel several of our basic Constitutional Rights are in grave danger. The 1st and 2nd Amendments are in jeopardy. The scope of the 4th Amendment will be expanded to the point of making effective law enforcement nearly impossible.

I feel like our entire justice system is bound for a liberalization that will allow people like Bill Ayers to function freely within our borders. And the sad part is, with the majority of the law makers on his side of the aisle, there will be very little chance for complete accountability. There will be little opportunity for accountability for Barack Obama himself. Barack Obama now has a blank check and it’s going to draw on your bank account and your sensibilities. Count on it.

Barack Obama has proven himself to be manipulative and easily manipulated. He will fold under the pressure of liberals even if he disagrees. He will change his stance on items of concern based on the pressure of law makers (liberal) not based on his convictions. He’s already been doing this throughout his campaign.

Bottom line is I am frightened of our future under his leadership. I think we are in for a long, damaging 4 years. I hope I am wrong about all of this. I really do. I want to see this country prosper not flounder. And if Barack Obama does this, I will post a public apology and promptly eat my own words. But my heart is telling me I won’t need to.

I hope you are wrong. I see this as a new step. First, not all the Democrats in congress are Liberal, so it won’t be a cake walk. Second, change. Yes I said it. The US Government has been a stagnating cesspool for too long. The same crap over and over, year after year, term after term.

Third, is Fear. Yes Fear. Fear is what the Neocons used to scare and manipulate the people for the past 8 years. But now, it’s not the people who are in fear, its our representation that is in fear. The Senate and House members now know that the people have finally realized… we do have a voice. And if they don’t do what they were elected to do, represent the best interests of the people, then they will be voted out.

This is the neocons worst nightmare… the people realizing they have the power.

I hope Obama can cross those party lines and finally bring a balance back to our government.

Editor’s Note: I went ahead and approved this comment for the shear entertainment value. Though Ms. Friedman does have a fairly nice voice. Warning: It’s 2 minutes and 21 seconds long.

My humble musical letter to President Obama:
