Google’s self-proclaimed mission is to “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”

In the process of fulfilling its mission, Google has laid out 10 guiding principles—including #6, “You can make money without doing evil.” Or, in short, “Don’t be evil.”

But what happens when they don’t live up to this ideal? Who holds Google accountable when they break rule #6? Answer: We all should.

Why? Because when one of the world’s most powerful companies does evil, we should all be concerned about the ramifications.

I have always said Google was evil. The way I see it, they have my email address, satellite and street level video of my home, work and route I take to work, search history and no government oversight.

Google scares me. But who can truly function on the Internet without them? Is there anyone that does? Can anyone step up and say they don’t use any Google products at any time while they are on the Internet? I doubt it.
