“ Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” It is truly an honor and a joy to be able to host this wonderful Carnival again. I had so much fun last year that I pretty much badgered poor Adam Graham into letting me do......

Scott - I get what you mean about the commercialism... and was wondering if you'd ever heard of the "Advent Conspiracy"? I came across from a friend of a friend, and thought it pretty awesome so I wrote about it here:

http://ccjjharmon.wordpress.com/2008/11/30/wors...

or just check it out directly:

http://www.adventconspiracy.org/

Ahhhh... The "Cold, Flu and Robbery" season. I know it well.

Maybe not Andy, maybe I'm not. But I have to force myself in many cases to feel that way. I wouldn't trade careers for anything. I just wish I saw more good than bad.

Scott,
I understand what you mean about dreading the season. Our standard Christmas "hymn," when I was on the job was, "Tis the season to be larcenous (substitute "murderous," "for drunkenness," etc., dependent on the scene you're working)." But, your comments show that an abiding love for others, coupled with a sincere belief in Christ, have served you well, and that you aren't as jaded as you sometimes feel...

Merry Christmas, my brother!

Great post. I really loved the last part, about putting other people first, before self, loving like Christ. That really captures for me what Christmas is really about.
