Chesapeake’s electronic poll books caused the issue…
November 6th, 2008 by Scott

In my previous post on Election Day, I mentioned that one of the “sign in” machines was down, only one was set up and working.  I didn’t know they were called “poll books”.

During the time I was in line, from 6:50AM until I cast my ballot at 9:30AM, there was one person checking ID and the electronic poll book, 5 polling machines, 3 of which were empty at any given point.

Anything that could go wrong did go wrong with the poll books,” said Al Spradlin, chairman of the city’s electoral board. “I’m disappointed. You don’t want anything in your voting system that makes you look deficient. These problems did not make our system look good.  -=SOURCE=-

But I am less aggravated about that now.  Once my ballot was cast I was happy just to have been able to vote.  There are many countries where that would have been done, at best under martial law, or worse, not at all.

But look at the comment above from Al Spradlin.  Now THAT aggravates me.  He’s worried about how his organization “looks” while people stood in the rain for 2 hours.  It’s not about you Mr. Spradlin.  Or your organization.  What are you going to do to fix the problem?
