Two idiotic lawsuits, one day, one city…
Ok… so the only thing the “City” had to do with it is the location. Nothing more.
But in today’s Virginian-Pilot (PilotOnline), there are two law suits mentioned that just stretch the word frivolous beyond belief.
Candidate #1:
54 Norfolk residents file a law suit against Councilman Randy Wright. To get a judge to order him to make improvements in East Oceanview…
Fifty-four East Ocean View residents have sued Councilman W. Randy Wright, claiming he has not done enough to improve their neighborhood.
In an Oct. 3 filing, the group asks a judge to order Wright to implement a plan to improve the neighborhood. -=SOURCE=-
The stupidity in that should be obvious to anyone who knows how a City Council/City Manager arrangement works.
Now for Candidate #2:
And this one rates right up there with the lawsuit that put the “Warning: Contents Hot” on your hot apple pie and hot coffee.
Apparently this woman was doing something with her phone charging cord and the coiled cord retracted back and whacked her in the eye, blinding her.
Sorry you were injured. Sucks to be you. Just how freakin’ far were you pulling this cord to let it snap back with that amount of force? Were you walking your dog with it?
SAFETY GLASSES to plug my phone in a charger? Have you lost your mind?
The suit says that the packaging of the phone and charger should have included warnings that “serious injury could result from the use of such car chargers” and that “safety glasses should be worn when using such car chargers.”
The warnings should also indicate that “a tight hold should always be kept on the car charger cord to avoid injury,” the suit states. -=SOURCE=-
The sad part is, in the case of Candidate #2, she will probably get a check from at least Motorola. Its easier for them to pay someone off than to spend the time and money to fight it.
Personally? I would spend every last cent to defend against something as IDIOTIC as this. And people know they will pay a little something rather than fight, that’s why we have these stupid law suits.

I heard of a ladder company that went out of business due to lawsuits against them, despite the fact that the company had 12 warning labels on the ladder. The final lawsuit was from a man who was injured when he used his ladder on frozen ground which thawed later causing the ladder to tip over. Man won suit, company went out of business.
